Frankie has been off colour the last couple of weeks - nothing serious enough to take him to the vet over - but not so annoying as usual.

The last couple of days he hasn't been eating with as much enthusiasm as usual (think Labrador in a cat's body0.

So today I bought some dearer cat food to see if that would cheer him up. Unfortunatly it did. I am never going to be able to eat the 'normal' Felix, Whiskas and Tesco again.

What have I started?

An expensive habit
Not sure why YOU are eating cat food in the first place lol.
Too late now, you've gone and done it! Still, not to worry, give him a few weeks on whatever it is you've given him and he'll be favouring the old stuff again thinking its something new (thats if you're really lucky)

Just re-read my post - you are right Lankeela I should stop eating the cat food.

Lizzy - you are right. Cats are so unpredictable when it comes to food. The dirty look that I get when I put something 'unacceptable' in their bowls says a thousand words - most of them nasty words.

Merlin doesn't eat so much as her brother - but she is all curves and looks twice his size.
Caspar has just spent the last hour wearing himself out shouting at me because the food in his dish is unacceptable.

Hopefully he will sleep now from sheer exhaustion.......
(but I know at least one deaf ear is open...waiting... ;-( )
I adopted an "eat it or starve you fussy little sod" stance. So he adopted a "I'm going to bring you a live mouse every day til you stop feeding me sh!t" stance. Manipulative little so and sos.
Brings back memories of when my vet said my cat only had six months or so to live (he was 18 at the time), so I started spoiling him..........he went on for another 3 years, and would only eat Sheba, and an average of three foil tins a day at that!!
oh dear oh dear (shaking head with sorrowful expression)....now you have done it, I promise you there is no going back now, today Sheba, tomorrow fresh prawns, steamed fish and fillet steak....mark my words...
Moggies are as changeable as the wind! One day they want this, the next - that - never satisfied! Costs us all a small fortune to have them - but we wouldn't be without them no matter the cost, would we?
So who really "owns" who? Mmmmmhhhhhhh.........that's a difficult one (NOT!!!!!)

But we are good mums/slaves and we have the idea at the back of our mind "maybe something is wrong".

I think that there has been a shift in dominance in the household. Merlin is strutting around as if she owns the whole world. She is usually the undercat (don't know why she has massive paws and a fiesty female temper) but maybe there has been fur flying - there was actually chunks of it at the top of the stairs.

It is the look of total disgust that we get when we supply the 'wrong' food. I am sure that all kittens do some sort of telepathic training course - manipulating humans.

I actually went out this morning for some Tesco's deli roast beef for Frankie. He loves it. They had a bit that was reduced to about half price. I gave a chunk or two to Frankie and he sniffed it and stormed off. Merlin was eating her treat so I ate the roast beef

Merlin has arrived for a cuddle - better go..

There's no hope for you, is there? They have you wrapped right around those little claws, haven't they? One squawk from them and mummy comes a-running with their Tecso's roast beef!
Will any of us ever learn? I doubt it!!!
Mine got fed up of Tesco roast beef ages ago! Bandit likes tinned tuna steak and Ozzie loves aged cheddar and a dish of evap milk to wash it down with! If I am cooking any kind of roast, whoe betide me if I don't save them some nice bits for them!

What did I say? All of us on this site today are just helpless slaves and no-hopers - held to ransom by the pleas of those felines with hollow legs and bottomless pits for stomachs!!
Fetch the men with the white coats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flossie has taken a shine to Waitrose terrine foils which means a special shopping trip for me. She also loves pate but only the smooth sort, not the coarse one.
Like pasta's cat Flossie just bellows at me if I get it wrong and once she's wound up she goes on for ages. Fortunately Daisie is not so fussy or so noisy
Caspar NEVER touched the food that I had put out this morning.....instead he spent all day howling-as predicted. I finally cleaned his dish and gave him a tin of the pate he likes......he is now sleeping like a baby. I wonder how long it will last-I dare not move!
