I have an optoma movietime digital projector which belongs to my local U3A, I am trying to connect through an older laptop so we can show Powerpoint presentations but for some reason the laptop will not recognise the projector. Would be very grateful for any hints.

Have you enabled the external video port on the laptop. They are all different in how this is done but often you just need to find the graphics adaptor icon in the system tray (next to the clock) and choose the external video.
As above, but if there is nothing in the system tray

But also look for a little picture of what could be 2 screens in different colour on one of the F keys (or might say something like CRT/LCD) hold down the FN key and press that.
Hello Shadow! Go to OPTOMA Website & see if you can download the appropriate DRIVERS. If not, then the 2 components will be incompatable. The Laptop will not recognise the external component being connected. OK?
