Heartburn so often....
11 Answers
Can anyone suggest any diet adjustments to help reduce attacks of heartburn. Most days I either wake up with, or go to bed with, heartburn. It's not indigestion. I usually take the normal anti-acid tablets which help for a while but they don't really fix the problem for long. I have an 'ok' diet. I don't eat a lot of very fatty or spicy food. I do eat some fruit and veg but maybe not enough. I drink plenty of fluids too. My weight is spot on for my height and build. Can anyone suggest which types of foods make the problem worse? I like dairy products and eat quite a lot of carbs in my everyday diet. Anyone? Thanks.

Most times the food I eat gets digested so quick I'm ready for another meal and my stomach acid starts to get ready for it too.
I buy fresh orange juice and swig that whenever I feel like I'm gonna get an attack of heartburn, it usually does the trick.
I've tried pineapple juice but that sets it off even more, it's like drinking battery acid!

everybody is different, like one of the guys who posted says he used orange juice to get rid of indigestion, that would absolutely crucify me. Anyway my point being that something that has worked really amazingly well for me is those little 'Danone Actimel' drinks. like you I used to get crippling indigestion, but one of those little pots makes it vanish like magic, I hope they have the same effect for you (ps I dont have shares in danone)
This could also be down to acid reflux which I had once. Apparently it's where your tummy makes too much acid, and some of it rises up into your wind pipe causing nasty heart burn. With me though, this got worse when I lay down as obviously being horizontal means acid can travel up more easily. Antacid tablets would work, but only for a few minutes, then it would be back. I went to my doctor who put me on a short course of pills which sorted it out - now if it reoccurs I find eating little and often helps, and I don't eat anything acidic like citrus fruits or alcohol.
