I think it is very hard to assimilate the allocation of funds for foreign wars as against the needs of domestic industry.
I live in Stoke, and we have seen the deepest coal mine in the country, one of the biggest steel works in Europe, and one of the biggest Michelin plants in Europe - together with virtually all the world-famous craftsman produced pottery in the world dessimated in the last twenty years, with not so much as a peep from the government(s) of the day.
Of far more concern to me is the way a 'Labour' government have presided over the 'fat cat' management culture, with its attendent catastrophe, and only now do they make noises about changing the culture.
I understand the premise of world trade and support for developing nations, but tne failure of the entire Russian army to subdue the rogue elements in Afghanistan must surely highlight the folly of our prescence.
I don't know what the solution in Afghanistan is - but I do know what it is not.
