Why is pakistan and the surrounding countries described as the sub-Continent?

Because it is part of a land mass on a different plate, the himalayas etc show where the 2 collides, billions years ago.

Shame that we can only be united when there is a war on.

Being united is one thing, and Britain is amongst the best at this i.e. always on hand to send all categories of aid out to the farthest reaches of the planet.

But !!!! Housing them, educating them, providing them with medical care, and granting them financial benefits, is another matter entirely.

Especially in this already crowded, cash-strapped, job-strapped, little island of ours.
