We had/have the same problem and the debt collection letters are still arriving for the former owners 41/2 yrs later.
What I did, was write to the main post 'sorting' office manager and explained that names to our address were as follows: 'our names' and that 'the former names' were no longer at the address. I also went and proved it.
So, that stopped the letters for quite a while... then periodically we get the former owners debt letters which I RTS.
I am going to re write another letter to the post sorting delivery depot and it'll stop them again.
I have written to the PO Box no's on the debt letters but they really are thick as poo debt collectors.....
:D L.

Either mark them Gone-Away or Not Known at this address and either hand them back tothe postman, or stick them in the box. I think it may be illegal to bin them (though they would have to prove it presumably) .
However the best solution I found was actually to trace the persons new address and/or phone number and send this back to the debt company. that way you have the double result of stopping the letters and grassing them up.

We have this problem too, and our address has a very poor credit rating becuase of it. we have started ringing the collectors, not giving them our names and explaining the person they are looking for no longer lives there. they then asked for our land lords number to try and track down the former tenants.
