Another week, another thread. This week's Listener is the "dreaded" numbers puzzle, which actually looks like it might be fun.

This one was the easiest that I have met. The beginning was understanding how to go about the solving process. When I realised that it was crossing points the rest, especially the end, was easy. I found the Wikipedia entry useful - and I, too, had initially inverted the 2s and 7s.
Thank you, Sarrie, I appreciate that.
To answer your question, I think that 'average Joe' might be fairly clueless (no offence cJ !) when it comes to pentominoes, as I was when I first encountered them in 2002 (see my posting above). I seem to remember that Oyler's puzzle was rather more challenging, and therefore more interesting, than this one.

Positively my last word on colours!
Would like to claim some level of creative thought went into the choice of colours - in fact it was determined by the only highlighter pen I possess, plus the first 2 of my daughter's felt tips which came to hand.
The colours do seem popular in the world of flags though.
Friday can't come soon enough if it will stop me drivelling on about colours - personally I'll vote for reasonably difficult, rather than a stinker!
