Hi, I have just installed the most recent version of Mozilla Firefox. It insists on opening and defaulting to a Tab that tells me I have updated. How can I stop that please?

Thanks for trying. Unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. I have google set as home page, google opens in a second tab. Cheers.
uninstall firefox and reinstall the latest from Mozilla web site
usually clears things up
Close all tabs except for google, click tools > options and then click on the main tab at the top and click use current for you home page.

Thanks to all who have replied. Unfortunately none of the suggestions works (downloading may work in a few weeks time. It did last time they updated. It is (I think) something to do with a locked "preference file". Some JO JO at Mozilla seems to think it is fun. I'm trying to find where s/he lives. Anyone know where I can buy a gun?

Cheers
click start and then run and type the following in to the run box

%APPDATA%

and hit enter, then double click the mozilla folder, then the firefox folder, then the profiles folder, and then the folder in there called something like 2umal6tg.default

in that folder locate a file called prefs.js and rename it to something else (prefs.old will do)

reload firefox and it will create a new prefs file for you and should fix the problem.

Thanks Chuck. I was able to solve it that way. (The prefs file was just prefs, no extension and then I had to use tools/options ).

Thanks to all who offered help.
