I remember this and watched that 'all black' episode. It wasn't until there were comments in the press that I realised it had been an 'all black' episode........
no it was just that one entire episode was played out by black actors. It centred around Patrick and the family who lodge with him.
There were rants about the BBC doing it to be 'PC' and that it was patronising to black people etc.
I think the fact that they had to announce there was going to be an all-black episode is racist in itself. If there was an all-white episode it would just be another episode. Why wasnt this?
well I think they shot themselves in the foot with this one. They tried to say it was one of their specials similar to the Ethel and Dot one but didn't realise many people would find this offensive...
kathryn the complaints were not about the fact that the episode was solely acted by the black members of the cast, they were more about the fact that the BBC insulted their audience by assuming it was necessary or pertinent.
