Mercedes
I have an 'M' reg Merc. The windscreen wiper has ceased to work. I have checked all the fuses, all are o.k.
According to the Haynes manual, I can only remove the wiper-motor now. This involves a lot of 'palarva'. The wiper-motor is working so If I can I should like to remove the Black cover from the outside.
Can this be done?
HELP please.

The black thing is called a scuttle and it does have to be removed to do any work on the wiper system. As TWR suggested, it does sound like the linkage may have come adrift. It should be fairly easy to put it back together but you may have to buy new washers & split-pin or circlip. Those items are dirt cheap.
Hi Vince, as stated the plastic BUTTON CLIPS are in your view when you look at the cover/Scuttle you can either use a Knife or a flat blade screwdriver to remove them, there may be about 6 depending on the size of your cover, when you have removed it before you start to remove the links make sure you have the in the right position to remove & replace, Its not a big job the new links have a snap ball connector that POPS into the cups.
Hi, just got in, Some of these button press studs have a centre pin, its about the size of a match but circular & about 1/4 ins in length, if this is the type use a very small philips driver and push the pin in-wards to release the press stud, the Cover/scuttle should then remove, Do not force it Vince, I cannot picture the Cover but it will be simular to the rest. contact the site if you come unstuck.
