Why have my car insurance quotes gone up?

Last year my insurance was �760 with simple cover. Nowich Union are no longer offering simple cover so i've done some other quotes this year but they are coming in over �1000. None of my detals have changed except I will have an extra years NCB - 2 this year instead of 1 last year.

Does anybody know of any speciallist insurers for younger drivers? I will be 20 end of this month and my insurance is due 03/05.

Hi Toleman, have you tried going to one of the compare the market type sites. My son did and got good quote with Quinn Direct and his insurance has gone down each year since he has been with them. Just have a look at the link below it's worth a try.

Thanks, tried norwich union but not simple cover and they have come up as the cheapest.

My son got his insured with Endsleigh. It was his first car as he had just passed his test and he was quoted between �1300 and �5000 ( yes, �5000 !!!!! ). I tried Endlsleigh and got it down to �900. Now in his 2nd year he has got it down to �475. Definately worth a try.

Unfortunately all of us who pay insurance have to also cover the cost of those who don't and wont pay for it.
Also over the past few years there has been a substantial increase in compensation claims for accident injury wether genuine or false.

As far as a cheap quote is concerned phone around or do you have friends in a similar position who have found cheaper insurance?

Toleman, if you can't find anything much better ring Norwich Union and tell them it's too expensive. they generally knock something off just for asking.

not sure how it works, but I got a quote from Norwich Union for home and contents insurance and it was over �500. I shopped around and got it for �211 with Sheila's Wheels (who I also have my car insurance with).. it may be worth a look. they take men too but even I'm embarrassed to say I'm with them!

Thanks for all you replies. I think I will tell norwich union im intrested in staying with their insurance but have found cheaper else where - what you going to do. Shy kids don't get sweets!

I was with endsleigh for my first year as they were the cheapest but not anymore.
