I think it is the pilots insignia for the RAF.

What bothers me is that it is looking to one side!

Not sure what it is, but at first glance it reminds me of something to do with America - just not sure what.

All RAF eagles look to one side or t'other.

It is reminiscent of the RAF Pathfinder eagle badge except they usually have the top wingfeather longer than the one below it.

Kempie, that's exactly what I think it is. I'm going to have to find some more photos of it though since you've got me thinking about the 'feathers'. There is no sign of breakage on the top ones. The mounting for the tunic is not 'pin and cluster' but a type of board, as you can see, with threaded pins through it and all held together by flatish 'nuts'.

Here are more variations of it. It appears as if there was no standard type; however, the one I have is definitely a Pathfinder badge...just wanted another opinion. Thanks.
