I'm a newb to using Photoshop CS3 and I could do with some help.

What I am trying to do is to use a photograph of a flag, and then overlay this with several photographs but with the opacity turned down, so that the colours of the flag show through. Can anyone advise of the easiest way of doing this or even point me towards some online tutorials?

Many thanks in advance,

TB32.

first suggestion is ditch photoshop - use a package that doesn't require a 20 year learning curve. It is the best ... but unless you are going to start serious useage ... something loke photoshop elements will do what you need .... without all the reading

the effect you want would be achieved using layers.
it's one of the more easy effects
starting with the flag - paste each photo in it's own space ... adjust layers to taste
AC is right it's a complex programme, but a really nice easy one you'll be able to do that with is something like photoimpression which is either free or pennies cheap if I recall.
Make the flag image the background layer.
Add a separate layer for each photograph.
Highlight and adjust the opacity of each layer in the layer palette individually.
When you're happy with the image, flatten (merge) it and save.
Not really that complicated if I can do it.

Thanks for the help everyone. The problem I had was when I open up two serate photographs, they opened up on different tabs, i.e. not on seperate levels, but I sussed out a way in which I could copy the photo on the seperate tab to a new layer on the original and job's a gudden'.
