What's the best way to cut a twig off a photinia to put in the ground to grow? Can it be a sizeable piece?

This week I have cut a piece from my Red Robin and planted into a spare pot in my garden. I just took a shoot that was growing from the main plant and stuck in a pot - and it has taken already.

These plants are very hardy and don't need much fussing.
