my son has held his driving licence for 7 years but has not built up any no claims bonus as he has'nt had a car in all that time, he has recently been offered a job and i have said he can use my 2nd car (a fiat punto) for a couple of months until he can afford to buy his own car, but have said he must insure it himself, quotes hes been getting are ridiculous over 1.000 I cant put him on my insurance as a named driver as im with saga (for the over 50's) and as he is only 25 he does not meet their age criteria does any one know of any insurance companys that would give a sensible quote tia.

Put him on your Insurance as a named driver, a lot of Insures are now doing that in-turn the Insured 2nd person builds up a % of his/her own. Go on Martin Lewis for Insurance Quotes for young drivers.
Is he trying get 3rd party or fully comp? Might be worth downgrading the cover if you trust his driving...

thanks for the replies Mavis he's a better driver than me, but we have found that fully comp can be cheaper with some insurance companys than 3rd party for some reason.
Try direct line as him as a named driver on your policy will mean he still builds up a ncb.

If the car is registered to you then im not sure he can be the main policy holder on the insurance.
