My reply re. your query re. phlebotomists.
Experience of sqad (for what it is worth)
NHS phlebotomists...excellent on the whole, but if learning can be "dodgy"....evryone has to learn.
Doctors as Phlebotomists.....avoid like the plague, except.
a) Junior Doctors
b) Anaesthetists.
Difficult veins.....stick with the Phlebotomist.
When the Dr is called for a difficult vein, the rationale is, (if it is going to be bu55erd up, then let the Dr. bu55er it up.)
