17yo stabbed
I have just read a man in his early 20s stabbed to death 1 of three men that were stealing from his home.although i do not think death is a suitable punishment i do think the homeowner should not be sent to prison for this as we should be able to protect our property from these scum.does anyone agree with my views on this? what im trying to say is i have no sympathy for this young man and fully sympithise with the homeowner i think he was well within his rights.

I'm not arguing with any views so far but the problem, if that's the right word, in this country is that for example in this case, the householder will be held accountable the way the Law stands at the moment, unless he can show that he was acting in self defence.
Now I'm not committing myself one way or another, however, anyone remember the case about 15 years ago of the farmer Tony Martin who shot a 17 year old burglar in the back who was running away from the scene? He died. I think Mr Martin served about 5 years for the killing.
Therefore, crazy though it seems, a victim can easily become "an offender" in this country if you're not careful, whereas in the US you would be hailed as a hero.
So, what I'd say is this: Would any of us really want to get a life sentence for a killing which may have been avoidable?
Unless your safety is threatened, is it worth the risk?

I dont value my stuff over someone else's life. I'd rather not challenge anyone intruding my home, for my own safety, more than anything really. I'd stab someone is I thought I or someone else was at risk maybe, but not to save my telly and if someone was prepared to stab me over it, they are welcome to it, they clearly need it more than me.
That Tony Martin showed no remorse. Im sure any normal person feels guilt over murdering someone, no matter what the reason. For that, and shooting someone in the back, he deserved to go to prison in my opinion.

They used to impale the heads of beheaded criminals on spikes around the main entry points in London about 400 years ago. This served as a 'break the law, this is what will happen to you' motif.
Not sure if it worked or if a return to the dark ages is a positive move but in a country where the criminal justice system is simply no deterrent I applaud the actions of this man.

Funny how people who hat the idea of Sharia law, espouse draconian punishments.
Tony Martin laid a trap I understand, that said he clearly felt unsafe and had probably suffered something of a breakdown due to police inertia.
Police indifference to victims is nothing new there was that teacher in Runcorn, months of harrassment met with a shrug. She flips chases one with an air pistol, and all of a sudden the law applies, look at that satelite engineer in London, again months of harrassment, no police action, that man's dead now. In Manchester a few years back a blind pensioner whose wife was in a wheelchair got broken into (he knocked on the door and tried to barge in) pensioner stabbed him and he died, council moved them out and the house got burnt down.
No they should'nt do anything to him and I won't mourn the passing of this turd, there was 3 of em FFS, do you think if he politely asked them to leave they'd just go?
He can easily claim he was fearful for his life and show reasonable force as they were crewed up, and they must've had some sort of tool (which could be used as a weapon) to break in with.

No not at all, I deal with violent people day in and day out, when one of em cops it, (God forgive me) I'm glad.
I've been caught in the middle of some big fights, been threatened by gangs, pulled a black kid out of a race hate mob, got dragged into a knife fight where the lad begged me to help him (which I did) and then the police arrived and he did'nt know who they were, what they wanted or what it was all about. Next time I'll call a constable and wait until it's all over before I step out or speak up, cos they won't put themselves out for me.

tiggerblue says ''If a person walks out into the road without looking and then gets run over the driver is punished. Why? '' Where do you LIVE ? A Mortorist who kills a Pedestrian is very unlikely to go to prison and even less likely to lose his/her licence for long. But they might get a painful slap on the wrist.
