Phew !!
Still struggling with the last few but have just cracked the title and the six letter word to be entered in the "middle" row.
The middle row (8th) of the grid has no words. Rows 7 and 9 have six letter words. So, could anyone who has done the crossword please enlighten me as to which one of these should be interpreted as the "middle" row or perhaps it does not matter -- the setter perhaps just wants proof that one has cracked the title.
Many thanks in advance

You're not looking for a clue, but for the six squares which stand alone the the middle row, reading horizontally. What those squares contain now and what they should be changed to should be very famiiar to you!
By the way, the words will all still make sense after this final change is made.
