Barcelona - closed on sunday?

Hi all, I'm thinking of having a short break in Barcelona. Going this saturday and coming back on Tuesday. Only problem is that due to unfortunate flight times this means that only get two full days: Sunday & Monday. I've done a little research and its looking that a lot of places/restaurants are close on these days. Is there any point on going on these days or would it be better to wait until I can go on different days of the week?

I went about 3 years ago over a weekend, and I can't say I noticed that places were closed on a Sunday. There was certainly a lot of life down La Ramblas with lots of people dressed as statues. I think that was the day we went to ParK Guell (lots of Gaudi stuff there) and then visited Casa Batlo and Casa Mila.

There were certainly enough things open for us not to notice that anything was closed!

having lived there for a short time, you might find some of the department stores closed on Sunday but there is so much to see that you can do the things that are open on Sunday and catch the others on Monday. You may find some of the museums closed on Monday however.

Like others, I wouldn't hesitate to visit Barcelona on a Sunday. It's a lively city and there's always plenty to do.

However I'm wondering whether you could improve on those awkward flight times by switching airports? Barcelona is served by three airports. As well as the 'proper' Barcelona airport (the wonderfully-named 'El Prat'), you can also use Girona and Reus. (easyJet, among others, uses Barcelona. Ryanair uses Girona & Reus). Both of those airports are just 'an hour and a bit' away from Barcelona on the express coach. Of course there's nothing to stop you, for example, flying into Barcelona with one airline and out of Girona with another. It ought to be possible to maximise your time in Barcelona.

This reminds me of the time my late father asked me abou the internet. He wanted to know who switched it off at night and who was in charge and did it run at half power on a Sunday.

I miss our conversations.
