I just send my mum a text when I go away and she does when her and my dad go away. Just to say we have arrived safe.

we just use the mobile when we get there and then try to leave them switched off, ever since we were on a catamaran just setting off on a cruise around Cuba and my son rang me as we were settling into our cabin saying he had crashed my car in the drive thru mcdonalds, we still had a week to go, since then i try to stay out of touch lol

It's a shame that text messaging hadn't been invented when we were younger. I would have had a template message all prepared, saying ...
