There is a painting of a farmer sowing seed, and some of blossoms that I remember in particular.
There was also a BBC programme within the last year on 'The Wave' and it's influence - may be useful if you Google it?
Hallo Gabrielle, Japanese woodcuts became popular in Europe when Japan started trading again with the West in 1854. Some impressionist painters are said to have first seen these prints used as packing paper.
Click here for a brief introduction or try googling for "Japonisme".
The ways in which the impressionists were influenced by Japanese art include:- Cropping the picture so the action is not only in the centre (for instance figures/faces may be seen at the very left or right of the canvas cut through by the edge of the painting (e.g. Renoir's Le Moulin de la Galette). Also the use of flat forms (see Manet and Van Gogh) and mask like appearances which later developed into expressionism.
