Exactly!!! Regular use of the word "faf" ("just faffing with the PC", "oh dear, Mr Fowler's been faffing with the server", "Stop faffing about" etc) whilst talking to Americans on MSN, AIM, etc, results in most of them then using the word to say "Really? that's faffed!" instead of them saying "that's messed!", you know? which really really pisses me off... I then go and explain to them how to use the word, for god's sake, and they say "no, THAT'S the wrong way to use, it doesn't sound right!" it's not good :-P and they do it with others too.
