Removing melted plastic from a cooker ring.
Through an act of sheer dumbness beyond belief, I placed a tupperware lid on top of a recently switched off cooker ring. Hey presto....I now have a ring that has a big bright blue plastic patch on it. Do any of you resourceful ABers have an idea how I might remove this mess and so be able to use this ring again? It's not a coil type cooker ring, nor is it a flush electric hob, it's one of these solid circles raised up from the cooker top. (Good grief, still so annoyed at myself for being "D'Oh!" that I can't even remember what the ring type it called).
Might I have to get a new cooker top? Or do these rings come as separate parts (admittedly, looks tricky to fit/replace). As it is, hubby's favourite (massive) lunch box is ruined, so he's having to make do with a smaller one (make up your own joke here !!)
Cheers folks! xx

I cleaned the eye-level grill on my cooker and then turned it on to dry it out. Next on the list was the deep fat fryer - i removed the lid and put it on top of the cooker as all the work surfaces were covered with other items to clean.
I started to scrub the fryer and then thought "what's that horrible smell?" You've guessed it - my deep fat fryer lid was slowly dripping through the top of the cooker onto the grill pan. It took ages to get rid of the smell and I had to buy a new deep fat fryer.
Lots of food here comes in plastic bags, sealed with rubber bands (quite cunning, as they are firmly on put a quick tug in the right place and they are off, except I only ever manage to tighten them). There were 5 such rubber bands on the ring from earlier when I put the ring on, and I didn't even notice when I put the pan on.
It wasn't very exciting, sorry, just seriously stupid! Not noticing 5 rubber bands on a ring about 8 inches accross. Had to clean the pan bottom too.
