According to the Oxford Dictionary definitions Traumata seems to be the nearest suitable answer. I don't think it was a particularly good clue.

but traumata is the plural of trauma, and the clue reads "an episode." which may be why it's a poor clue, but still.....

Brouhaha seems to fit with the first two words of the clue, but it was the confusion bit that seemed out of place. I suppose we'll have to wait for the answers to be published at the weekend to see what the compiler thought was the correct one. It should be interesting.
