annie - try lidls beans with sausages. I don't know if they are cheaper though.
Gourmet cooking there Annie lol!!!
I do not buy any other baked beans than Tesco light choices with reduced sugar. they are about the same price as the others but lovely beans.
agree about tescos own tomato sauce, much better than Heinz.
Hi, I obviously do buy other things - like fruit (organic apples are the best!!) etc and sometimes even real meat . lol. But these things are handy standbuys when ther is always one child who wont eat what everyone else is having. My younger son will not eat any real potatoes and that includes chips, so the instant mash is a lifesaver when he is sick of pasta, rice and noodles with dinner, but he will only eat sainsburys mash. I also love most of their taste the difference range. I do shop in Tesco - but they can't match sainsburys quality. Marks and spencers sardines in olive oil are delish as well.
annie - I love mashed potato - I used to buy Smash but now I use potato puree from Lidl. Some of their stuff is not to my taste but this is really good.
Thanks sand, it doesn't matter whether it passes my taste test or not, it is the young master that counts - he obviously has sensitive taste buds as he can tell when something has a "new recipe", I daren't try to fool him - it may put him off altogether - this is the child that was like a human bucket until he was about 3, now he has very conservative tastes compared to the rest of us. His absolute favourite meal being sliced ham (with the orange bit on the outside), instant mash (saisburys), sweetcorn (has to be green giant) straight from the tin followed by bread and jam (sainsbury's taste the difference strawberry conserve). He also loves fish done in breadcrumbs, but I have to tell him it is chicken - he has even been with me to the fish counter to buy it, but he obviously thinks cod is some sort of variety of chicken! The things we do for a quiet life.

Hi hailthe.......they call it puree on the box but it is the same as all the other instant mash brands - powdered potato.
We keep it as a standby but probably use no more than a box or two a year.
