Hi All

I currently have a Passat, 1.9 TDI 83k on the clock, I usually only drive 6k a year, but now need to do a lot more mileage due to work, probably another 6-7k.

I service it every year and oil change every 6 months, what else should I do to keep it running well? Its done 83k and really want to look after my car due to the cost of repairs etc.

I claim 40p per mile so hopefully will be able to put some of this aside for tyres etc when they go, but what advice, any would be much appreciated.

Is it OK to still service once per year with a 6 month oil change, its a 2002 model, 1.9 TDI

Many thanks

Steve

Change the oil and filter every year or 10000 miles. The VW pd engines require a high shear oil to VW specification 505.01. It is very important to use the correct oil. Millers make a suitable oil, XFE PD, at around 25 for five litres.

Thanks for the help, have always changed my oil every 6 months, thats usually 4k but now it will be about 7k every 6 months, do you still feel this is pointless? I tend to service every 12 months and oil every 6 months.
If I do 14k per year, and do the oil change after 6 months and then full service at end of year ie 14k is this safe? as note you said above every 12 months or 10k?
Thanks
