My '02 Passat Estate has a cigar lighter facing the rear passenger seats, fitted in the centre console. My problem - it doesn't work! All the other cigar lighters/ 12v power outlets in the car do work i.e. one in the front and two in the boot. My question therefore is, does this one have a seperate fuse, and could this be relavent to my previous question re. portable dvd/fuses. Someone please help, it's nearly holiday time and I've got to keep the kids occupied somehow!!

On my '05 Passat wagon, the fuse for the rear seat outlet is behind the dash with the relays.  With the fuse panel cover off, you can shine a light in the hole above the fuse panel and see a bunch of relays and one 20 amp fuse.  If you have fairly thin wrists, you should be able to reach through the hole above the fuse panel and replace it.  It your hands/wrists are too big, you will have to take off the lower dash piece by removing the torx fasteners.  I guess putting that fuse back in there on the relay panel made sense to somebody at VW.
