My house is being repossed next month; I have left some furniture and other items there. I dont have anywhere to store them, nor am I able to move them myself due to having no transport or knowing anyone else well enough to do the favour for me. Who will actually get rid of the stuff, will it be the lender prior to selling it or will it be the new owner? thank you
The property will still belong to you. However, either the lender or the new owner can serve notice on you to remove it. If you don't do so within a reasonable period of time, the items can then be sold.
If it was me, I'd be looking in Yellow Pages (under 'Furniture - Secondhand') and phoning round dealers to see if anyone wants to come and buy the stuff.
Don't know where you live but try gumtree.com and select your nearest town/city, people give things away or sell them, or try charity furniture places to remove unwanted stuff, was in similar situation in 2006 and ended up giving things to house clearance people!
