I think it is stronger than time to

bibendum is a gerund and implies must,

Now it must be drunk  - OK that's not English

Now we must drink.

 

It's OK Latin for - Bottoms up!

Thanks for the question and the answers.   There is  a big wine warehouse called 'Bibendum' quite near.  I thought it must be something to do with 'imbibe'.  Now I know!

It is the beginning of an ode (poem) by Horace (Quintus Horatius Flaccus) ancient roman poet (born 65 dead 8 BC).  It goes Now we must drink, now we must dance wildly... something to do with the death or defeat of a political enemy.  Sorry I can't remember more but it was a long time ago.  I will post again if I find out more.
