5HTP - Too strong - how else can i take it??

i have some 100mg 5HTP tabs...however i have realised they are giving me stomach ache...so i need to halve the dose really....they are capsules...is there another way i can take this?

can i open the capsule an put half in water or somthing? any ideas...??

can you buy empty shells??

Yepp...open the capsule and use half.

If that avoids the stomach pain, then buy 50mgms as soon as possible.

Also, take them at meal times.

joko, If you're taking one of the ssri's for your depression you taking 5HTP can be dangerous as it causes Serotonin Syndrome. This can begin with stomach cramps,really bad headaches and muscle spasms. In fact anything herbal can be detrimental taken with an ssri. The ssri will boost your serotonin but taking 5HTP will cause to to double, If you're taking one of the older TC's thats fine.

You say you are going to but 50mg next time. Why don't you go doctor and get properly prescribed. I would not advise opening capsule as this is why they are in capsule for slow release into your body.
