My new kitten.
4 Answers
My new kitten is using her litter box. For the first 2 days she did wees & poos in it. But the last 2 days, there has been only wees in it. During the day the door outside is open so she's in & out like a fiddlers elbow.
Do you think she is doing her poos outside during the day & doesn't need to poo during the night? Or maybe I'll find little pockets of poo around the house in the future?
I don't smell any poo, nor can I find any.

I trained my girls to use the outside loo (as opposed to the litter tray) by moving the litter trays closer and closer to the back door (gradually, over a week or so) and then put one on the other side of the door (ie outside). Then I emptied some of the lightly used litter onto freshly dug soil in the garden and this has now become their favourite place to go. Every so often, I go out and dig the soil (and litter) over to keep it fresh.

Has she got a cat flap ? If not, you may want to investigate one that works with her microchip, so that only she can come and go (it's called a PetPorte btw). Obviously if she's very young, then she won't even be old enough to be microchipped (the vets tend to do them at 6 months, when they spay them).
