deaf puppy

My freind has rescued a deaf puppy she is about 13 weeks old and had been thrown out onto the streets she was taken to the local council kennels were they keep them for a week then putthem down if not rehomed.
Can anyone point us in the right direction for taining tips and any advice they also have a 8 year old grman shepard who trys to warn her off but obviously she cant hear so carrys on.Thanks all
