Hi Guys....Can anyone tell me if Diesel used to run cars is the same as Paraffin and if so can a diesel generator run on paraffin.

As far as I know they are two different things.

According to some sources, however, you can use chip oil(!), although I think it is best to dilute it with diesel.
hi! paraffin has a higher btu count..(burning thermal unit) than diesel so if your genny would run on paraffin it would overheat and self-destruct in a very short time, jbr's tip about the used chip oil is a good one...simply filter any used vegetable oil to get any nasty bits out and mix 50/50 with red diesel to make your very own economy fuel..this tried and tested cheapo fuel is great and only a little bit smokey! my boat just loves it!!
paraffin,kerosene,jet fuel and diesel are almost identical,a diesel generator will need a small amount of oil to be added to the fuel to aid lubrication which is missing from the other fuels.
