Are you Experienced by Jimmy Hendrix is the album that really shaped me.All other albums apart from a couple by the beatles & the stones, pale into insignificance....but my mind is open to suggestions.
In my teens I listened to the following:-

Beatles - Revolver
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge over Troubled Water
Beatles - Beatles for Sale

Now in my fifties, I reckon the following have made me who I am now: -

Garbage - Version 2.0
Idlewild - Hope is Important
Marc Gunn - Irish Drinking Songs for Cats
Runrig - The Cutter and The Clan
ZZ Top - Greatest Hits

Close friends describe me as a complete nutter and not at all the person they knew in my teens.

PS They do say long may it continue.
Pink floyd - dark side of the moon

Elton John -goodbye yellow brick road

Billy Joel - The stranger

ELO - Out of the blue

David Bowie - Hunky Dory
Deftones - White Pony (The best album in the world)

Radiohead - The Bends

Stereophonics - Performance and Cocktails

Bon Jovi - Cross Road

Guns n Roses - Use Your Illusions II

Rubber Soul -- Beatles
Are You Experienced -- Hendrix
Rumours -- Fleetwood Mac
Abacab -- Genesis
Andrea Bocelli -- Sogno
Mellowed with age.

I've noticed a few folk have put Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. I decided to have a listen to that album to see what all the fuss was about a while back and didn't think much of it. In fact, if anything, it offended my ears a little bit.
The Jam...Snap...

PF.....Wish you were here

The Who......Quadrophenia

Abba...(ahem).......Arrival

Bay city rollers ...(double ahem).....Once upon a star......

Sorry....obviously not as cool and hip as you lot..... ;-)

You have to play it while watching the wizard of oz.

Seriously, after my last lot, I thought of loads more, so it really is difficult to define just five.
Me too postdog. But I have to stick with Pinky & Perky because it was the first album I ever owned. (Well, I had to share it with my smelly younger sister, but most of the time I took possession). My own 'children' (aged 24 & 26) have it now - it's becoming a family legend & heirloom.

Dear John,

I could say you had to be there. Flared denims and flowery shirted. Hair down to your waist. And that was just the blokes!

But seriously, listen in a darkened room. Drop all inhibitions and listen deeply. Breath with the music and chill. Must have been something good cos even the kids of today love it.

Breathe.......
