I am looking to move into my own place soon and i would like to know how much i can expect to be paying out other than mortgage payment, council tax, car, petrol and food? I will be living in a 2 bed house or flat in scotland if that helps. I would say i would be a light to medium energy user. Im at work all day and away a lot at the weekends. Not sure how new the property will be but the ones i've been looking at have gas central heating and double glazing. Thanks x

I live on my own in a 2 bed terraced house and I pay:

25 pm electricity
50 pm gas in the winter, 15ish in summer
18 water
12 BT line rental
14 broadband
22 building and contents insurance
if your on your own dont forget to put enough away for the porn channel ;)
Cheeky chops, dont forget tv licence @ 12, and Council Tax. which varies according house size. Having looked at Edinburgh as a example, a band D property would be 100 per month.

Your electric and gas will depend on whether you have electric heaters, gas central heating, gas cooker etc and how many appliances you have.

I had no gas at all in my 2 bed flat, and my electric was about 45permonth.

My OH has a 2 bed terrace which seems to work out at about 80-100 pcm for gas and electric combined.
