Just de-seeded a sunflower head I "pinched" from a field (whilst on a 45 min break) somewhere just north of Bordeaux in France, at the end of last summer - How many seeds you reckon . . . . . . ? 1,096 !!!!! (yes, I counted 'em !) I'm thinkin' @ 1.00 each, allowing for "no-show's", pots & compost etc, that's gotta be somewhere around 800 profit - what d'you think . . . is it worth doing ?
I assume you have a very large greenhouse or somewhere away from the slugs?
And I wouldn't pay a quid for a sunflower plant!!!!
Personally, I'd just eat them. But nice thought.
I've often thought about propagating stuff and selling it on, but its labour intensive for not much gain. A mate of mine does it commercially and he has to work his arris off.
Yeah, good thinking BM - I was thinking much the same.
The problem is, they should be sewn between Mar & May (I believe) but we're going away at begining of May for 3wks !!
