My computer recently died and was resurrected by a local computer company.
They have reinstalled Windows for me and have advised me to use Firefox. I have been playing away with the computer all afternoon.
I had my 'favourites' on a toolbar. I also have a Google bar and a Navigation bar. At some stage in my 'tinkering' I have lost the favourites/bookmarks. They still show in the Bookmarks menu but not on the main toolbar at the top of the page on the computer.
That's the problem - there is a tick there. I am used to IE and having my regular lurking sites in a line at the top of the screen. I must have done something to change this situation but I can't work out how.
Thanks also luckystrike - I even tried dragging them there fo the top of the screen
My computer had a nervous breakdown this time last week when I tried using Norton 360 - I tried to upload my backup to their secure site.
The machine froze and then died. It cost me 100 to have the computer back up and running, they had to reinstall windows and take a moggie worth of cat hair out of the hard drive.
Unfortunately I have been unable to link the printer to the computer. My CD/DVD drive is unreliable and I am unable to manually attach the printer because the printer does not come up in the list of printer models. (HP psc 1317).
Mamma might have told me there would be days like this - but this year has been a tad awful.
One of the great things about Firefox is that any problems can usually be fixed by simply re-installing it. There's no need to uninstall it first and your bookmarks (as well as any add-ons) will be preserved.
Try reinstalling Firefox. If your bookmarks don't reappear on the toolbar, go to Bookmarks, click on one of them, and drag it to the toolbar. Repeat as required.
