Update of B&Qs so called half price sale.
8 Answers
I have now had several quotes for the installation of a bath, basin and toilet, a straight swap, no tiling, no extra piping, no electrics, and they averaged 500 however in B&Qs half price sale they quoted 875 this was 475 for the installation plus an 'Outer City Surcharge' of 420 for everyone who does not live in the city. Therefore most people are better off getting the work done locally.

I have their Feb. sales brochure in front of me and the print is 30mm tall proclaiming: ' 1/2 price ALL kitchen units & bathrooms plus 1/2 price installation. It was also on TV . they made quite a thing of it.
redcrx: I live in Bucks and I checked up on other B&Qs and they all said it applied to all their non city stores . It was the Berks stores who told me that was the way they were equalising the charges throughout the country. I don't know about Suffolk maybe they charge it but don't list it separately, only a guess.

redcrx: According to a B&Q rep. it's those NOT in a city area who pay the extra. The trouble is no one I spoke to in different branches really seem to know what the surcharge was for. They all came up with different explanations. The only constant fact is that it is called an Outer City Surcharge, so one must assume it doesn't apply to a city , whatever that may cover. For your information if you have a quote it is listed on the page marked B&Q GIS Works Item List. Thank you for your info.
