smell from plughole

My kitchen sink plughole seems to have a smell I cant get rid of . Have tried disinfectant, kitchen fresh and jeyes fluid in the outside part of drain. It is not blocked
any ideas please

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.could be the way the waste pipes have been fitted, is it a double drainer ?.. i have seen problems with these where the water lays in the waste pipe between the 2 sinks due to incorrect plumbing.
The smell wont be coming from the drain the whole point of the U bend is to prevent this.(asuming its got one !!)

There is a product called 'Pressure Plumber' made by Mer (if you google them you can buy it online) you place the aerosol over the plughole and give it one push - there is a shot of gas like substance, which pushes anything that is lurking in the u bend through - you will be surprised what comes out in your drain.
I originally bought mine from QVC the shopping channel, but I don't think they sell it anymore - I usually buy my refills from Mer online.
You could also try soda crystals and hot water, also effective with plughole smells.
Unsecrewing the u bend, as mentioned by two other people is a good idea aswell.
