Im, currently researching the behaviour of the domestic cat, I was wondering whether any one out there knows whether the weather has any control over their behaviour, More specifically the hot and cold?

Blow got to write this all again as my answer just blew up on me. I was saying Boots snds winter indoors - don't think it even occurs to him that he might have a life outside. After a couple of months of this he is a flipping nuisance spending his time looking for what he can do next. Lackof activity my husband says. We live on the Vercors in France where temps this winter fell to -15C during the day. Cold! When he has to go out he pops out beside the door, does whatever needs doing and then tells te dog who goeqs out and covers over the evidence!

umm...my cats seem to act the same in cold or hot weather it doesn't change there behaviour very much unless there like realy hot and just lying there looking like there realy hot, but no not realy
Mine seem to be a bit lazier in the Summer.  They stretch out in the conservatory and just stay there all day sleeping.  The colder weather finds them curled up on a chair or sitting near to a radiator.  During stormy weather, our ex-stray cat runs up and down the stairs as though she is being chased.

Thanks for your replys, Fingers crossed for that A grade! L.O.L.!
I dunno,i would 've thought that we're all kinda affected by the weather, areas of low pressure (I think) before rain/thunderstorms tend to cause people to get headaches and feel grumpy and lethargic etc...

mind you,if your cats are anything like mine were,They'll do what they want when they want to,ESPECIALLY if it messes up your research!

good luck anyway.

robyn=(with a slash)2 thanx for your rating or rather Boots mews his thanks.
And I add the weather is milder and Boots is only coming to eat these days - it wouldn't even dawn on him (I don't thing) to sleep indoors.
my cat Lucifer (he's black), is totally different with the seasons. In Spring he spends all night hunting mice with great success I might add & deposits the corpse on the lawn. In Summer ( such as it is), he just lazes in the sun. In Autumn he behaves oddly  like a different cat altogether & Winter he constantly seeks attention & often seems depressed, S.A.D. maybe. He craves foods he wont eat at other times & costs a small fortune. All my previous cats have had their own personalities & as someone else says, they always get theur own way in the end but then I am a nutcase with animals so ignore my ramblings. Hope you get an A grade.
