I want to put a couple of movies onto 1 DVD, however, the file names in both folders are the same. I've tried renaming the files in one of the folders, but then, that movie won't play. How do I resolve this? Many thanks.

the file names arre sequential
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
the 01 indicates that it's part of film 01, bit 1, 2, 3 etc
so your next film should be called
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_02_2.VOB
VTS_02_3.VOB
then
VTS_03_1.VOB
VTS_04_3.VOB
VTS_04_4.VOB
would be 2 more
as long as it's sequential you can start with any number
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB

Nearly there, AC, this is what DVD2 folder looks like, which is exactly the same as DVD1.

Can you please show me how to change each file, as I tried changing the VTS ones and it didn't make any difference. Many thanks, Liz

It's got nothing to do with the cost, Wideboy. It just seems silly, putting a 30min episode of a series onto a 4.5 GB disc, if I can get a few episodes onto 1 disc. Keeps it all together. Liz
PS. I buy my discs from http://www.3000rpm.com/ They don't come much cheaper and ex quality.

I convert my vids using
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_ to_dvd/
I just ran it on a few shorts all to same folder
the small file is the preview ...
30/03/2009 20:13 8,695,808 VTS_01_0.VOB
the bigger one is the clip
30/03/2009 20:13 218,873,856 VTS_01_1.VOB
no menu - no 01_0.vob
but on a longer film you'll have
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_03_1.VOB
or more

Thanks guys for all your help, but it looks as if the answer was under my nose all the time. I've added all the files to Winavi for conversion to DVD, with the option to create one DVD with separate titles. It's in the process now, so fingers crossed. Will let you know if it's a success. Doomey, my player doesn't playback anything but VOB and Wideboy, the thread was a bit too techy for me, but it was obviously very helpful for the guy concerned. Liz
