Enola Gay was the name of the mother of the pilot. She was not very happy when she found out what a plane named after her had done.
Enola Gay became a song by OMD in the 80s

Not sure anyone will read this reply as this question is a bit old, but here goes.
The decision to drop those bombs was made for all sorts of reasons.
I do think part of it was for the US to justify all the millions of dollars they had spent on their development.
The other "problem" the world had was that now the war in Europe was over Russia had offered to "help" the US defeat the Japanese.
The US knew that if Russia poured down in to South East Asia to "help" they never would have left after the war had finished, and Korea, Vietnam etc would all have fallen to communism.
The US needed to finish the war quickly.
I also think the horror of those bombs has STOPPED any other country dropping one since then.
If the world had never seen the horror those bombs caused then I am sure a larger bomb would have been dropped since then, causing even more death and destruction.
Remember those bombs were fairly small compared to what they can build today.
It could be argued those 2 bombs have helped to STOP anyone else dropping one, which can only be a good thing.

Saved an estimated 3million lives but brainless tw@ts like steve.5 cannot do paradoxical thinking. Want know the really scary thing? This t1t teaches kin history FFS, you'd think he'd be able to look at the context of the time wouldn't you? But no, just take it in isolation and carry onl with your head up your lefty ar5e. What a plonker!
