pcmcia card
3 Answers
I've got a wireless router for my laptop, but I'm told that what I need to complete the process is something called a PCMCIA card. What exactly is this; are they all the same; if not, what should I go for; and finally what sort of price range are we talking about here?

There are differences which is based on the speed of the connection: 11 MB upto 125 MB, obviously the higher the number the faster and the more cost it is. As you are just using the internet (which is 2 MB at the most) an 11 MB connection is plenty so I would got to PCWorld and get the cheapest laptop wireless card.
you will only need the card if your laptop does not have built in wireless technology.I have just connected my new laptop to a wireless router, and the router was the only thing I needed to get wireless.I have now added my old laptop to the wireless network, but because it did not have built in wireless capabilities, I needed a PCMCIA card, and a wireless USB adaptor.I now have both laptops sharing my broadband connection.Remember to secure your connection to avoid neighbours gaining access to your connection.
