I still use the local shops for most of my meat and veg - if I had been going to do a "proper" roast beef dinner it would have been rib or sirloin from the butcher - and a loan from the IMF :-)) I am pot roasting in the hope that it will be nice as I usually find supermarket beef rather a disappointment. Fingers crossed
Brown the joint in a frying pan with a carrot and some onion pour in a bit of wine and/or stock- stick it in the slow cooker in the morning and go and enjoy yourself- after about 8 hours take the joint out and let it rest whilst you liquidise the cooking juices to make gravy . If you cant be bothered to brown it all first it will still work but browning just gives it a bit more flavour.
