Central heating control timer

I have a Gledhill FE180 thermal storeage tank and this is fitted with a time control clock for the heating, this clock has gone wrong and needs to be replaced. Can anyone advise whether this can be replaced by a standard commercially available control timer or must I replace with a like for like?

It should be OK. Have a look at the diagram on page 25 here. (Might take a while to load). If you know what you're doing, it should be pretty straightforward. If not, get someone in!
Just a thought, but can't Gledhill provide a replacement? They should have a choice of an electro-mechanical or an electronic clock for your heater.

Information of great help. For now I have managed to get the original clock working again but have saved a copy of the pdf link for the future.
