Why are they actually 'sore' ?

Why do we get them?

Why am I enduring one -the first in 50yrs?

Why does my husband not have one as its meant to be through kissing?

I have had the cold all week but i didnt think they went hand in hand.

I'm miserable as i keep knocking the scab off -I am using cream so think ive caught it in time.

Whats the point in them?

Snap Dris! I've had a cold sore all week. its real title is Herpes Simplex. I usually get one when I feel run down and as Im full up with a cold Im putting the cold sore down to that. My daughter gets one every month when she's due. I always think better out than in, I keep mine dry btw.

Thanks hun -I didnt realise they were so sore. -I feel the right of my face is just numb and my lip -well -its just blistered.I have been taking vits but I am run down at the moment.

Thanks Icey -H and I are now squabbling cos he is the on;ly perosn ive kissed and he doesnt have one !!

It's a bit of an old school joke about them being caught through kissing. My ex constantly got them, but I have never had one in my life (and we did kiss a few times!) Unfortunately some people are just more susceptable to them than others. It's a bit like acne and spots, some people have perfect skin even though they eat crap, and others have the healthiest diet but still get acne.

I guess its not a good idea to kiss someone if you/they have an open sore as the virus will be active.

A doctor I work for has told me that everyone has the virus in them, for most it remains dormant but for others it flares up. Being run-down is definitely going to make you more open to getting them though.

Tried & tested remedy (by me) - dip finger into acetone (nail-polish remover) & dab on cold sore.

aw cheers angel and termulan -thanks for advice -poor H has had it all weekend cos I havent had one before so ergo he has been playing away nonsence I know !!

I am very run down and tired and now have 2weeks off so i'm gonna just chill and keep taking the vits !!

Its to do with a poor immunity system. My son as a little boy of 3 contacted Herpes Simplex in both eyes. Very nasty as it caused ulcers on the cornea. He was under the eye hospital until he was 17. His immunity has kicked in and has not had a flare up of it since.
You hubby could have an immunity to the virus.
