Beef mince in a large bowl, fresh breadcrumbs, one finely chopped onion, tsp oregano, pinch of salt and pepper, big squidge of ketchup and one egg. Mix it all up by hand, make into meat balls and fry till brown.
I then pour 1-2 pints of beef stock over them and simmer for 1/2 hr whilst I make mashed pots and steamed veg.
I thicken the gravy with a little bit of cornflour mixed with water if needed.
OR even easier and cheaty but similar effect as meatballs, get some nice sausages, pork or you can get beef sausages, and chop them into nice chunks, fry them off in the pan till brown with some chopped onion, 2 cloves crushed garlic and some chopped bacon, then add 2 tins of tomatoes, and simmer for 15 minutes with a lid on, then lid off and boil to reduce for about 5 mins. If you like a bit of heat, add some pimenton and a little chilli with the tomato.
