am sorry to hear that your mum has had to give up the job she had x do you think she would enjoy shop work on the tills she would get to sit down yet still meet new people x
sometimes i think they rotate the roles where she maybe could be on lighter filling up duties filling up goods on shelves that arent 2 heavy x
Does she have a sewing machine at home? Perhaps sewing for people at home.

What about a call centre, not particularly hard physical work, or how about some sort of social care work...day centre or such. Social services are equal ops employers and so she should be able to find something interesting.
Good luck
Perhaps you could check around your area to see if there are any ladies lingerie sewing factories. Generally the work is sewing bras. It is a sitting down job and of course the small garments are not heavy. Normally a machinist would do just one part of the process, such as attaching the cups, shoulder straps, or the back fastenings. These firms are always looking for experienced machinists. I do hope you can find an opening for your mum. Good luck.
Could she do clothes alterations for people, putting in new zips or pockets, shortening trousers or skirts or perhaps make curtains for people.
