Ironing
Is the one thing in life I absolutely hate. So I shove it all out of sight and then have to spend hours and hours doing it. When it is done I make a resolution to do it the same day as the washing, but in 30+ years of doing laundry I have never kept this resolution and always I have a spare room full of unironed clothing.
My son lives quite happily without an iron and an ironing board - should I throw mine away. Any thoughts?

I have to admit that I love to see a really nicely ironed shirt and I do iron Mr FP's shirts very well. I wonder if he will notice the 7 unironed ones from yesterday?
Have a nice day.
As a child I often wondered why we couldn't just start a new fashion in wearing un-ironed clothes and hope it sticks.
Gosh no I think tumble dryers are a curse when it comes to ironing! Mine puts such creases in my clothes. Mind you, I do leave them in there for a while after the cycle has finished, and probably overload it as well. Ironing is fine once you've started, but getting the motivation to get going is tough.
Re the Forces thing - not for me! I'd love someone else to iron my kit... as long as I could trust them not to put tramlines in which they ALWAYS do - and you can't complain because they have just done you a favour!
Well I suppose it could depend on the make of your tumble dryer & the fact that you're overloading it & leaving your clothes in for too long after it's finished!
Fortunately, ours has an option that when the tumble cycle is finished, it goes onto a de-creaser action. The tumble comes on every few minutes, just for a few seconds, to stop the clothes from creasing - that's why our cuts down on ironing! I love it.
A tip for those people who actually do iron their laundry(and it looks like it might just be me and Mrs. Bloggs down the road judging by this thread!) - do it straight after breakfast, or before if you're not a breakfast-eater; it doesn't feel nearly as much of a chore if you tackle it before the rest of your daily chores, while you're still relatively fresh and rested.
Whoever invented ironing should be shot at dawn!
