May be wrong but think this may be a simple one. My eighteen month old Alba freeview player is no longer responding to the remote. Have changed the batteries, switched the machine on and off again, and no response at all, although I can change the channel on the machine itself. The remote was standing in blackcurrant juice for a couple of minutes on the day this happened. Any ideas on how I can sort this please?

I don't think the blackcurrant juice would have done it any good :-)

You could try contacting Alba for a replacement remote but it might just be quicker and easier to buy a new box, you can get them for less than 20.
take the remote apart, you will find a circuit board and a rubber membrane for the buttons.

Clean the surface of the circuit board with something like rubbing alcohol or some other solvent and the rubber membrane can just be washed in soapy water, leave to dry and put back together again.
